The name was not unjustified, it needed some urgent attention to the sills, subframes and the majority of the running gear.
It wasn't until June 2005, that work commenced, and within a week, Grotbag had an MOT and was on the road... A little less grotty than before, but with plenty of hidden upgrades.
The rear subframe had been completely renewed, with new arms, adjustable camber brackets and brakes. The front had been solid mounted and freshly built a high compression 1330 installed specifically for 1/4 mile running.
Running in standard trim with budget 145 tyres, Grotbag achieved a remarkable 16.49 1/4 mile, crossing the line @ over 80mph. Not bad for something which from all outward appearances is a rather worn out '86 mini with little hope of getting round Tesco's carpark without something falling off.
Here she is, sporting her class number and name. After this new lease of live, Grotgab was used as my run-about for a couple of months before it was time for her to pass onto a new owner.
Before she went, her original 998 engine was rebuilt from the crank up and re-installed.
